I have three amazing judges to tell you about, and you can find their formal bios at http://seattleedu.startupweekend.org/ !

Frank Catalano is a veteran of education and consumer technologies, and posts a mean tweet at @FrankCatalano. I started following Frank on twitter even before I got involved with Startup Weekend EDU, and he has an amazing sense of what education needs from technology right now.

Teri Hein is the executive director of 826Seattle, the PacNW branch of 826 National, an incredibly innovative writing, publishing, and tutoring organization. I’ve been slightly obsessed with the 826 organization since I first started reading their “Best American Non-Required Reading” series in about 2005. Teri Hein is going to bring that amazing and creative consideration of education to our Startup Weekend EDU!

Finally, we have a super-secret surprise judge, who’s staying on the down-low until after a surprise arrival in Seattle to visit some special friends. What I CAN tell you is: This awesome person is coming from the Department of Education headquarters in DC and will be bringing some amazing federal-level tools and needs to the big event! Open data to share, federal-level tech needs, awesome experience in both entrepreneurship AND education?

These judges are going to help you take your edtech solution to a higher level, and support us all in innovating educational technology for better outcomes for our kids!
